Dog Training in Suffolk Virginia

Welcome to a new blog post series on my favorite places to train dogs. I always strive to be as transparent as possible with what the dog training programs will look like. Hopefully this will give you a glimpse into what is possible with our programs.
Suffolk, Virginia includes the Smithfield and Carrollton areas as well. Our trainers can be found at Windsor Castle Park in Smithfield which also includes working the dogs near Smithfield Station, Harborview Marketplace, and Lake Meade Park in Downtown Suffolk.

Windsor Castle Park in Smithfield Virginia

This is a large open park with walking trails and fields, perfect for training your dog to walk nicely on a leash or come when called. They also have a large dog park to help with reactivity, focus training with other dogs around and walking politely towards exciting places. You can walk over the bridge toward Smithfield Station or around the fields near the neighborhood where you will find horses, sunflowers and sometimes deer and goats. This place is a favorite for all levels of dog training because it has so many areas to explore.

Harborview Marketplace Suffolk, Virginia

This area boasts lots of pet friendly shops to socialize puppies, and work on leash training around lots of people. Dog training in this area mostly means learning to ignore other people and dogs, with a focus on obedience training in public. Typically our advanced students join us here to really challenge their dogs’ training. The Harborview area has many dog friendly stores like Lowes, Michaels, and TjMaxx to help with socializing puppies and teaching older dogs to ignore distractions. If this sounds like something you would like to do with your dog, contact us today for a free consultation to discuss your goals!

Puppy Socialization means ignoring stuff.

If you have a fearful dog who needs more space to be successful, then Lake Meade Park is the place for you. This park is full of trees and wide paths to help you work on your dogs training where they can be successful while still challenging them. The large shaded areas are great for working on training essential dog skills such as stays and walking close to you while on a leash. Lake Meade Park also has a dog park to work on dog socialization, and focus while training in exciting locations.
